Marija Katalinic is the participatory project manager in Rijeka 2020 - European Capital of Culture in Croatia. Her professional experience balances between international academic and managerial expertise. Currently in the final stages of her PhD at the Kulturwissenschaft Institute, Humboldt University Berlin, she holds degrees from journalism, visual culture and cultural studies. Aside from her passion in documentary filmmaking, her work is focused on working with the community and bringing democratic values forward to the public through theory and practice. Together with dr. Sara Blaylock from Duluth University, she shares the role of co-director of International Association of Visual Culture (IAVC).
