I am an artist and director based in Athens, Greece. I am a member of the Institute Of Radical Imagination, a volunteer at the Open School for Immigrants of Piraeus and a member of Solidarity Schools Network. Solidarity Schools, in Greece, are self-organized educational structures formed on the basis of both covering social needs as well as resisting our country's gross inequalities.
Our purpose is to enrich the social character of public education, to stand against every private practice seeing the educational process as business or merchandise and, overall, to oppose the kind of logic that restricts equal access to learning for every member of our society. Overall, we attempt to deconstruct the teacher-centered way of understanding education and learning and to develop our envisaged framework of decentralized, autonomous and non-hierarchical educational communities. Through the formation of a Network bringing together Solidarity Schools, movements, other social entities and people, from Greece and abroad, we wish to develop a coherent framework to champion education as a common good, to keep on asserting our claims through our own creative work!, local media and urban design.
